Hey guys,
So here is the proposal. I have a run of the mill D16a6 Transmission (Didn't remember the code for the trans) I also have a Transmission out of the CIVIC WAGOVAN that was AWD.

Here is where it gets very interesting. The AWD wagovan uses the Intermediate shaft like that on the ZC and the D16a1. You can see where I'm going with this.

Does anyone know diff from the AWD wagovan will bolt into the SI transmission.
I'm thinking it would since they have pretty much the same looking housing almost and they both derived from the same EF platform. If this is the case I would love to swap it into my SI transmission so I can run a intermediate shaft.

If anyone knows about this or has done it please let me know. If you know what the final drive was from a Wagovan please let me know.

I'm going to pull the wagovan trans part some time this month and get the diff out of it. But knowing ahead of time would be grrreeeaaatttt!

Thank you,

I'm goiong to say no. I do not know the specs on that diff though, so it might be possible. you'd be better off with a zc diff if you want the halfshats.

I'm going to pull the diff from the Wagovan and check though.

I would do the ZC route but where is a reliable place I can just call and buy one from?
I would prefer to just get the whole tranny.

I'm hoping this wagovan one works if so I may be on to something lol.

So am I understanding this correctly? Is the ZC diff capable of being swapped into the a6 tranny?

Also does anyone know if there is company that is capable of making a custom half shaft? I know that certain place do axles but I wasn't sure about an actual half shaft. The reason is I already have a quaife LSD in the a6 tranny and I don't want to waste it by going with a different diff.

I have mad torque steer and I think that equal length axles would help out a lot. Thanks!

you will want to ask the tranny master mistabone aka transbone
he doesn't come on this site much...try d-series.org for quick response

i'm going to tell you that it is not compatible
you will need custom bearings manufactured to fit both the diff and the case.
secondly as far as i know, nobody makes axles with the correct spline count for these diffs and inter shaft.
i think da axles work...but they are the wrong size for eg's...so pray you are putting it in an 88-91.
thirdly, the final drive is probably a different bolt spacing and/or not compatible because of the awd unit.
all of the info i just posted is prospective...i dont actually know for sure...
bone will know and will tell you in a simple 'yes' or complicated 'no'
he's well known for his complicated 'no'...which usually means its too expensive to be worth it.

most of the awd trannies are automatic
final drives are going to be your problem i believe
unless you find the manual awd trans...and even then

I recall him saying that he had never ventured into one of those transmissions..but I suppose it doesnt mean he wont know offhand.
