hi team, im a UK member and have been lurking a while, ive gathered most parts i need for my conversion, and today i purchased the car itself. now ive bought a 97` civic LS, 3dr hatch, now its mainly going to be for drag use, not a daily driver.
so my question is, shall i stick with this car, i bought it becouse it was very cheap, but im not sure if i should just sell it on and buy a 92-95 model.

my concerns are:

1, weight. is it much heavier than a older 92 car? i believe its about 50kg`s heavier from whjat ive read, which is probably worth 25hp or so.
2, i asume its OBD2, does that mean hastle? or is it just a harness adapter to convert it to a p28 ecu?
3, does the d16z6 drop right in? (its a d15z6 now)
4, gearbox, i believe the ratio`s are very long on my box, again will the d16z6 gearbox just drop in?
5, who has the quickest 6th gen here?

now on the + side, i already have the car, and its was very cheap, the bodywork is ok, where as a lot of 92-95 car have rusty rear arches here (salt on roads).

opinions guys, thanks :)

if your gonna turn this into a drag car are you talking about like full race car (tube chassis and fiberglass front end) or are you just talking about a car that you take to the track? The weight difference isnt really that much of a difference. The EK is a little bit heavier the the EG but not by alot. And im not really familiar with obd2 but im pretty sure its just a jumper harness to convert it to obd1. And yes the d16z6 with bolt directly in.

hi, thanx for the reply.

to answer your question, no im not planning on going tubular chassis, i want to keep the car road legal other than slicks. my goal is 10 sec 1/4, which is easily done in road trim.
the simulator i use is saying 2mph slower from the extra 50kg weight (thats with circa 250hp).

i just wanted some real world experiance though :)

z6 will drop rite in but your ecu yould need converted as ignition and base timing is differant. plus obd2 cars have crank sensors and the z6 does not .so to avoid throwing codes get a cheap ebay harness obd2-obd1 harness and it will be direct bolt in. use your y8 or y7 dizzy the z6 has different plugs.

Here's a video of one of the guy's rota92 has raced.

Tex Blackwell.

There is also a video on you tube from NOPI World Finals at MIR last Aug where rota92 lines up against Tex. Tex has a B series in his car. I have the video saved but I attach it here at work.

found it,

Here's another link if that one didn't work,
